Meet our providers

Hello, I'm Carissa Stanton, MD!

I am the physician and owner of Mindful Pediatrics. Through my practice, I provide primary pediatric care through a membership based, direct care model. I also provide wellness consultations: focusing on gut health, maternal factors affecting baby’s health, feeding, tethered oral tissues, and functional breathing. I treat each patient individually and holistically: taking into account the mind, body, spirit and environment. I use an approach called integrative medicine: natural treatments before and/or in addition to modern medicine.

I have a diverse training in nutrition, pediatrics, surgery, integrative medicine and tethered oral tissues/disordered breathing. I received a bachelor’s of science degree from Kansas State University in Dietetics, and my medical doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. For residency I did 2.5 years of general surgery and 2 years of general pediatrics at KU Medical Center, and 1 year of pediatric surgery at Children’s Mercy Hospital. I completed Pediatric Integrative Medicine for Residents training through the University of Arizona’s Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. I recently went through the Breathe Baby Course at The Breathe Institute in California to be trained on the evaluation and management of tethered oral tissues and disordered breathing.

My practice, Mindful Pediatrics, opened in April of 2020. In October of 2022 I joined Liz Levy and Cody Skinner to open KC Well Nest. At “The Nest” I provide primary pediatric care, wellness consultations, co-treatments with other providers, and general pediatrics procedures.

In my spare time, I spend time with my family on our homestead in south Olathe. My husband and I enjoy camping, attending our daughter’s activities, and taking care of our animals (2 dogs, 10 chickens, pigeon, cat and bunny). I have a daughter who attends the University of Kansas, a step-daughter at Kansas State University, and a step-daughter in high school.

Hello, I'm Liz Levy, RN, BSN, IBCLC!

I am an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and owner of Lactation Liz. My goal as a lactation consultant is to help you reach your goals. I aim to help babies not just gain weight and grow, but establish good oral function and feeding skills that will set them up for a lifetime of success, health, and wellness. Each family is different and I pride myself on being able to tailor my services to what works best for your family and your life. I offer group and private prenatal breast/chest feeding classes as well as postpartum lactation consultations.

I was a NICU nurse for over six years before leaving the hospital setting to establish my private practice full time. In addition to my conventional lactation training, I have completed training in oral dysfunction, oral habilitation (helping with improvement in function of the tongue and mouth), and oral tie management. I also have personally experienced breastfeeding difficulties followed by successful outcomes with my own two children, who each struggled with tongue, lip, and buccal ties. My other specialties include assisting with multiples, medically complex families, premature infants, low milk supply/oversupply, nipple and breast pain, exclusive pumping, and breast conditions such as surgeries, mastitis, inverted nipples, plugged ducts, etc.

Outside of my professional life, I like to do yoga, go for walks, and listen to podcasts (ask me about some of my current favorites!). My husband, Steven, and I love to hang with our two kids, Grant and Alana, watch them in their many activities, and travel. We also like to play board games and mah jongg together.

I can't wait to work with you and your family!

Hello, I'm Cody Skinner, MOTR/L!

I graduated from St Ambrose University in 2004 with a Masters in Occupational Therapy. My experience in working with infants ranges from different settings including inpatient hospital, outpatient clinic, and home settings. After taking some time off to focus on my own children’s needs, I discovered my passion for infant feeding & how important it is to address underlying problems that are causing symptoms in my patients. I am now the owner of Flourishing Babies OT.

The past five years I have focused on furthering my education in infant feeding, tethered oral tissues, fascial work, and airway. I specialize in feeding therapy for 12 months and under, working with breastfeeding mothers, bottle feeding, and transitioning to solids. I use a Whole-Body approach to feeding. I also offer joint baby/mommy CFT sessions. I enjoy helping mamas heal and feel grounded in their own bodies as this directly helps their babies thrive.

My husband, Jim, and I have three daughters: Josie, Leighton, and Eva. Together we love to travel, spend time outside, & play with our dog, Thor.

Hello, I'm Stephanie Risinger MS, LCMFT

I am a Clinically Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas and Missouri. I serve women and their families in the perinatal period. This includes pregnancy, pregnancy loss, infertility, postpartum, and motherhood.

Early in my career I worked in a teen pregnancy prevention program and learned the degree to which women are undereducated regarding their reproductive health and thus began my journey toward educating herself and others. I went on to experience my own challenges in trying to grow my family. From that I developed a sense of purpose in helping women find and live from their inherent worth, regardless of their fertility and motherhood experiences. I take an integrative approach to mental health, which includes mind, body, and spirit. I collaborate often with other practitioners to provide client with opportunities to truly be supported in all areas of life.

I received my Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University in 2009. In addition, I served as an adjunct professor of psychology for five years at CBU and have been a featured speaker at numerous community events, organizational meetings, trainings, workshops, and women’s retreats. I completed my Certificate in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International in 2020.

My husband and I now have two daughters. They enjoy camping and other outdoor activities, music, and spending time with friends and family.

Hello, I'm Jen Osgood, RN, BSN, CPNP-PC

I am the pediatric provider and owner of Wellness Pediatrics KC. I
have been a pediatric nurse practitioner since 2003. Most of my years have been in Pediatric Primary Care, but I also have years of experiences in wound and ostomy, pediatric neurosurgery & gastroenterology. I went to Baker University (1997) for my nursing degree, Saint Louis University (2003) for my pediatric nurse practitioner degree and Emory University (2015) for my wound and ostomy certification. In 2021 I decided to specialize in functional medicine. Therefore, I have completed The Institute of Functional Medicine’s coursework, the Gillespie Approach Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) training, and the Bioindividual Nutrition Institute’s course.

I want to partner with families to empower them with knowledge and
skills to improve the health and vitality of their family. I like to get down
to the root cause vs covering symptoms with medication.  Your “family medical history” does not HAVE to be YOUR family’s medical history. Our genes set the stage, but our lifestyle choices are what pulls the trigger in many chronic health conditions.

My husband and I have been married since 2001 and have 3 children.
We have acreage south of Kansas City where we grow our own food and focus on healthy living. We have pasture raised cows, poultry, gardens, and food forest.
